Large retailers, manufacturers, and government agencies have been moving towards "paperless" transactions for nearly 25 years.
ELECTRONIC DATA INTERCHANGE ("EDI") provides a method with general ‘standards’ that allows disparate companies to transmit data electronically. Unfortunately, communicating via EDI is not "STANDARD".
Each company has unique requirements and nuances to their EDI 'maps'. For many small to medium sized companies, maintaining these 'maps', as well as the systems, programming, and support needed to communicate with multiple customers is cost prohibitive.
A common solution is to use an EDI 'Service Bureau'. API EC has provided EDI Service Bureau support since 1988. |
